Letz Live UK participants meet in London for orientation

Letz Live UK Orientation London

Letz Live UK Gaps have been have been having an amazing experience despite the pandemic. This year we’ve seen many participants head to the UK for a Gap Year programme.

At the start of the programme we were unable to arrange the orientation we would have normally organised (200 participants being welcomed in Dubai). However, as the UK continues to lift restrictions, we were able to organise a group meet up in London.

Thanks to our friends at Contiki the group had a jam-packed three days of sight-seeing and exploring.

Street Art Tour of Shoreditch

Staying close to Piccadilly Circus, the group arrived Friday afternoon. First they started with welcome drinks in the Contiki Basement and an exclusive street-art tour of Shoreditch. The tour included Banksy’s “The Triumph of Death”, several FlashInvaders and an enormous mural of Harry Styles and James Corden. After this, they ventured into nearby Hoxton for everyone to catch up for some food and drinks.

Walking Tour of London

On Saturday the group were taken on a walking tour of London, taking in some of the most famous sights. They explored Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square, as well as some less well-known sights such as Goodwin’s Court, the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books. In the afternoon, our Gappies explored independently meeting the horses of the Queen’s Life Guard. Others taking in the tastes of Borough Market and visiting Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and more. Dinner at the hotel was followed by an opportunity to experience London’s legendary pub culture. This was very much back to normal after the Covid restrictions of the past year.

Catching up with friends

Sunday was a bit more leisurely. The Gaps had some free time to explore London and spend some time in the big city with their friends.

European Travel

With normality steadily returning to the UK and Europe, many of our participants have booked summer trips to safe European destinations. We already have participants in Greece and Spain from schools who have broken up earlier for the holidays. We look forward to updating you on our Gappies’ summer adventures!
