A 'Gap year' is traditionally referred to as the year taken between the completion of secondary schooling and the commencement of tertiary education or entry into a future career. A Gap year with Letz Live offers you the opportunity to live and work as a residential staff member in one of the world's leading boarding school establishments. In addition to a weekly allowance, you will also receive free accommodation, meals and incidentials. Furthermore, those Gap assistants who embrace the challenges and responsibilities of their time abroad may even be rewarded with duties that involve travel to national or international destinations!
A Gap placement abroad allows you to gain independence and confidence through caring for students in the boarding school and experiencing international travel.
Whilst a Gap placement with Letz Live is a fantastic opportunity to travel, you are also expected, and will be routinely reminded, that you have been employed by the school to work. There are no set formulas for the type of tasks expected of a Gap assistant. The needs and requirements of schools vary quite considerably and accordingly a Gap assistant needs to be flexible and understanding in such circumstances. Letz Live works in conjunction with boarding schools throughout Canada, China, India, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and the United Kingdom (England, Scotland & Wales).
Some schools may require their Gap assistant to be competent in a particular discilpine; it may be on the sporting pitch, the performing arts or in the classroom (maybe all three!). You may also be involved in duties assisting the schools' ground staff, individual tutoring, escorting students to medical appointments or school reception duties. Whatever the situation, it's a great opportunity for you to try your hand at a range of new challenges!
